The Center for Self Discovery has two great mentoring programs currently in operation:  Teens Run DC and Through My Eyes: DC Photo Narrative Project.  Both of these programs are supported by a dedicated volunteer staff of more than 30 who  are committed to mentoring our youth. Teens Run DC provides students with running shoes, uniforms, healthy snacks after long runs, and entry to all of our races.  Through My Eyes provides students with cameras and  prints each student’s portfolio, both photos and narratives, accumulated over the course of a year.  Both programs are offered free of charge to all students who participate.

Needless to say, to operate these programs cost money.  In addition to the above direct costs, we have the costs of program evaluation and expenses associated with training our  mentors and building our infrastructure.  While we try to keep our expenses down and will continue to support DC youth on whatever funding we have, your contribution will allow us to expand our reach and become a lasting, significant presence in the DC community, dedicated to supporting the well being of at-risk DC youth.
